      • found: Email from National Library of Australia, Jan. 5, 2017(The National Library of Australia has changed our authority record for Country Party to Australian Country Party (1920-1975), and would like to recommend this change also be made to the LC Authority. Our full revised authority record is available at http://nla.gov.au/anbd.aut-an35992994. This change has been necessary to clarify the history of names changes for this organisation and to distinguish the Party from another party with the same name which was founded in 2015. The reason for the change from Country Party to Australian Country Party is that the party was officially registered in the Parliamentary Register with that name, and it was used in their official publications. // The National Library of Australia has made changes to our authority record for the National Party of Australia and would like to recommend these changes also be made to the LC Authority record. Our full revised authority record is available at http://nla.gov.au/anbd.aut-an36213624. Although the authorised name in the 110 field is unchanged, we have added to and amended the references and scope notes. These changes have been necessary to clarify the history of names changes for this organisation. // The Parliamentary Library advised me that their preferred authority for names of political parties is the Australian Electoral Commission, with whom the party is officially registered as "National Party of Australia" (see http://www.aec.gov.au/Parties_and_Representatives/party_registration/Registered_parties/), with "The Nationals" being listed as a "Registered Abbreviation". This registration was updated in 2013.)
