Lee, Percy Maxim, 1906-2002

[Percy Maxim Lee, American political and civic volunteer, was born in Hartford, Connecticut, on July 6, 1906. She was elected to the national board of the League of Women Voters of the United States in 1944, and served four terms as its president, from 1950 to 1958. She was also a founder and trustee of the League of Women Voters Education Fund, the organization's educational arm, and was president of the league's Overseas Education Fund from 1959 to 1964. She served on the board of Connecticut College for Women and as national consultant for Radcliffe's Women's Archives, later the Schlesinger Library, from 1957 to 1960. She was also a member of President John F. Kennedy's Consumer Advisory Council. She died on November 9, 2002, in New London, Connecticut.]
