Educated at Chauncy Hall and Radcliffe College, became a journalist. Moved to Knott County, Kentucky where she worked to found over 100 public schools in eastern Kentucky. Most known for her founding of Caney Creek Community Center and Caney High School and in 1923 she and June Buchanan co-founded Caney Junior College in Pippa Passes, Kentucky (later Alice Lloyd Junior College.) Died September 4, 1962.)
