found: Sydney morning herald WWW site, viewed June 1, 2020(Allan Joseph McLean February 15, 1945-March 7, 2020; Allan "Lofty" McLean; Allan completed a PhD with Molly Holman in the physiology department at Monash University and held clinical training positions at both Prince Henry's and The Alfred hospitals while completing his PhD. He returned to Melbourne and to The Alfred in 1978 as consultant physician in general medicine, vascular medicine and hypertension--posts he held until 1995. He became foundation director of the department of clinical pharmacology and therapeutics in 1984 and was elected chair of the senior medical staff and a member of The Alfred's medical board of management from 1990-1992. In 1995 he was appointed as director of geriatric medicine, Canberra Hospital and director of geriatric medical services ACT Health. He was appointed as director of the National Ageing Research Institute (NARI) in 2002 and few years later was appointed director of aged care and professor of geriatric medicine at the University of Melbourne.
