Born on the island of Jersey; baptized into the Mormon church by the missionary Thomas Brown Stenhouse, whom she married on Feb. 6, 1850; both served as Mormon missionaries in Europe and moved to Salt Lake in 1859. They joined the Godbeite movement, Fanny being the first woman to do so; both became vocal opponents of the Mormon church; Fanny was excommunicated in 1874 after she gave a lecture in Salt Lake on the evils of polygamy.
