found: German Wikipedia, viewed February 14th, 2024(Burkhard Mithoff ; (also Burchardus Mithobius, Burchard Mithoff, Metobius, Mithauff, Mithobius, Mythof); born April 30th, 1501 in Neustadt am Rübenberge, died August 16th, 1564 in Hann. Münden, was a German physician and mathematician. In Erfurt, he joined the Reformation and was a member of the Humanist Circle. Mithoff was appointed to the University of Marburg in 1531. He held the chair of Physics there until 1536, teaching mathematics, astronomy and astrology as a professor. At the same time, he studied medicine. On July 20, 1535, he performed the first dissection of a human head in Marburg. He also served as councillor and personal physician for Landgrave Philipp I of Hessen in 1536, he therefore moved from Marburg to Kassel for this purpose. In 1539 he moved again, this time to Hann.
