found: NUCMC data from Swarthmore College Friends His. Lib. for Richard Humphreys Foundation. Records, 1837-1977(Corporation of the Institute for Colored Youth; Richard Humphreys, a Philadelphia silversmith, left a bequest to establish a school for blacks; school opened as Institute for Colored Youth; a group of Quakers referred to as the Association of the Institute, and after 1842, the Corporation, was established to oversee the execution of Humphreys' wishes; actual management of school was carried out by Board of Managers which reported to the Corporation; with successive name changes of Institute, Corporation was successively referred to as Corporation of the Institute for Colored Youth at Cheyney, and Corporation of the Cheyney Training School for Teachers; in 1922 state of Pennsylvania assumed management of school, and Corporation, which was no longer involved with school, changed its name to Richard Humphreys Foundation with income from the endowment to be used for promoting education of blacks to become teachers)
