found: Manley, Mary-Elizabeth. Roots and wings, 2021:CIP galley (Born April 25, 1915 in Salt Lake, the core of her career was lived out in this city until her death May 20, 1979. Throughout her teaching career and life as Artistic Director of the Children's Dance Theatre, Tanner affected the lives and dance training of not just hundreds, but thousands of students and teachers. The announcement of their engagement was published in The Salt Lake Tribune, Thursday, April 27, 1950. Virginia and Bruce were married in a chapel setting at Memorial House the evening of May 27th.)

found: University of Utah, Tanner Dance Program website, November 17, 2020:History (During summers in the late 1930s, she studied with choreographer and modern dance pioneer Doris Humphrey at workshops in Colorado. Virginia traveled to New York City to continue this study, but in the end, her love of teaching prevailed and she chose to dedicate her art to inspiring young people.)
