In 1934 it merged with the Evangelical Synod of North America (formed in 1877 by the merger of the Evangelical Synod of the Northwest, the German Evangelical Society of Ohio, the United Evangelical Society of the East, and other similar organizations) to form the Evangelical and Reformed Church.
