In 1362 it was seized by Lithuania, but by 1569 had become part of Poland where it became the Brat︠s︡lavsʹke voi︠e︡vodstvo. After the second partition of Poland in 1793 the territory of present-day Vinnyt︠s︡ʹka oblastʹWas reunited with Russia, where on 04-23-1793 were established the Podilʹske and Brat︠s︡lavsʹke namisnyt︠s︡tva [no publs. in LC data base]. From 1797 the main territory of the contemporary Vinnyt︠s︡ʹka oblastʹ constituted the Podilʹsʹka hubernii︠a︡ [no publs. in LC data base] while the remaining territory formed the Kyïvsʹka hubernii︠a︡. By 1804 the Podilʹsʹka hubernii︠a︡ was composed of twelve povity. In March 1918 this entire territory was seized by the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and in June 1919 by General Denikin and the White Armies. During April 1920 these lands were again occupied by Polish forces, but in June 1920 were finally liberated by Soviet forces. By 1925 the Podilʹsʹka hubernii︠a︡ had been abolished and in its place were formed the Vinnyt︠s︡ʹkyĭ, Tulʹchynsʹkyĭ, and Mohyliv-Podilʹsʹkyĭ okruhas [no publs. in LC data base]. On 02-27-1932 the Vinnyt︠s︡ʹka oblastʹWas established, which until 1937 also included the present-day Khmelʹnyt︠s︡ʹka oblastʹ)
