found: Scanlon, Jennifer. American women historians, 1700s-1990s, 1996:pages 11-12 (Caroline Bancroft; born in Denver, Colorado on September 11, 1900. Earned BA from Smith College in 1923 and M.A. from the University of Denver in 1943. Served as literary editor and columnist for the Denver Post from 1928 to 1933 and wrote articles for many other magazines and newspapers. Taught creative writing in the University of Colorado and University of Denver extension programs as well as history at the Randell School in Denver. Most famous for her original works on Colorado history including the Ballad of Baby Doe and Silver Queen. Died in Colorado on October 8, 1985)
