found: Tooley's dictionary of mapmakers, 2001:(Gastaldi [Gastaldo, Castaldi, Castaldo], Giacamo [Jacopo] (c. 1500-1566) ; Italian astronomer, cartographer and engineer from Villafranca, Piedmont. By 1539 he was active in Venice, producing numerous general maps as well as engineering and waterways maps for the Venice area. By the 1540s he had developed his own distinctive style of copper engraving for his increasingly prolific output of maps. His maps were used as a source by many mapmakers, including Camocio, Bertelli, Forlani, Ramusio, Cock, Lichini and Ortelius. Died in Venice)
