The difference is between Basque language orthography and Spanish orthography. Basque does not use a "C" while Spanish rarely uses a "K". So it often occurs that Basque people will have variants of their name. As we are the Center for Basque Studies, we prefer to use Basque orthography and consider the author to be KORTAZAR, although people there are often inconsistent depending on a variety of factors")
