Lived with her aunt in Boston, then taught school for three years before becoming the field secretary for the national board of the YWCA. Earned a BS from Teachers College at Columbia University in 1931. Helped develop the Swarthmore College Institute of Race Relations in 1933, later being appointed as the assistant director of the Philadelphia Works Progress Administration. Won election to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives where she served from 1938 until 1939. Later lived in New York City. Died in Philadelphia on March 28, 1965.)
