He earned his BA in History and African Administration from Fort Hare University College, South Africa (1950) and an Education Diploma (UED) from Birmingham University, Birmingham (1957). He was a lecturer at Selly Oak College in Birmingham, UK (1955) and an instructor at the Government Teacher Training College in Umtali (1959). He was elected secretary general and vice president of African Teachers' Association; was a co-founder and a vice president of the Zimbabwe African People's Union (ZAPU) (1961). He was an active member of African National Council (ANC). He died in 1984 in Harare, Zimbabwe)
