He was born April 14, 1931 in Plummers Mill to the late John and Iva Newman Cooper. He married Jessie Dunaway Cooper on January 8, 1948. Mr. Cooper attended Unity Baptist Church. He worked and operated Cooper's Grocery in Tollesboro, worked at Frigidaire/Appliance division in Dayton, OH and worked at Kroger's in Dayton, OH.
