found: Oxford DNB online, 14 Oct. 2014(John Bethune, poet; born 1812 at Upper Rankeillor, in the parish of Monimail, Fife; younger brother of Alexander Bethune, 1804-1843, also a poet; he contributed several pieces to Alexander's "Tales and sketches of the Scottish peasantry" (1838); in 1839 the two brothers published "Lectures on practical economy"; writing as A Fifeshire Forester, John Bethune contributed many poems to the Scottish Christian Herald and the Christian Instructor; he died 1 September 1839; John Bethune's poems were collected and published with a prefatory memoir by his brother in 1840, with a second edition appearing in 1841)
