found: JISC Archives Hub website, viewed 27 April 2021(Huntley and Palmers; Joseph Huntley established a biscuit bakery in Reading in 1822; known as Joseph Huntley & Son after 1829 when his son Thomas became a partner; from 1838 Thomas Huntley operated alone and under his own name; in 1841 he went into partnership with George Palmer as Huntley and Palmer, later Huntley and Palmers; the private company Huntley and Palmers Ltd was established in 1898; in 1921, it combined with the firm of Peek Frean, each becoming subsidiary units of the Associated Biscuit Manufacturers Ltd.; Liverpool firm of W.&R. Jacob & Co. joined the group in 1960; following re-organisation in the late 1960s, from 1969 the three units disappeared as independent trading entities, being replaced by the division [of ABM] known as Associated Biscuits Ltd, which was bought out by American multi-national Nabisco in 1982)
