Described by Rolling Stone magazine as "the best band you've never heard of," Luna combined intricate guitar work, traditional rock rhythms and poetic lyrics to elegantly capture the romance of the late night.)
    • found: New York times, 13 June 2015("It is a pretty momentous occasion," Sean Eden of Luna calmly observed between songs at the band's concert on Thursday evening in McCarren Park in Greenpoint. It was a homecoming of sorts: the first New York City appearance in a decade by a band that had distilled a certain New York sound. It was also the first big concert of this year's Northside Festival, which is striving to become Brooklyn's version of the South by Southwest festival in Austin and continues through the weekend. Luna held on to the deadpan, three-chord, steady-state rock that was pioneered by the Velvet Underground in the 1960s and extended by Television a decade later. It was founded by the songwriter, singer and guitarist Dean Wareham in 1991 after the dissolution of his similarly minded band Galaxie 500. On Thursday, Luna's lineup was the same quartet -- with Mr. Eden on guitar, Lee Wall on drums and Britta Phillips on bass -- that disbanded in 2005 after making seven studio albums. (Mr. Wareham and Ms. Phillips continued to collaborate as Dean & Britta, and were married in 2007.)
