Attended Great Falls Community College and Montana State University. Moved to Seattle, Washington in 1968, then returned to the reservation with her husband and son in 1970. Became tribal treasurer and founded Blackfeet National Bank in 1987, now the Native American Bank. Heard about her tribe members' problems with their Individual Indian Money (IIM) accounts which were paid from the federal government from lands it held in trust. Sued the U.S. government Department of Interior for defrauding at last 500,000 Native Americans.)
