found: NUCMC data from Navarro College (Corsicana, Tex.) for Civil War letter of Nathaniel Wales, 1862 Oct. 13(Nathaniel Wales; enlisted as private in the 24th Massachusetts Infantry; first lieut. of 32nd Mass. Inf., transferred on Aug. 13, 1862 to the 35th Mass. Inf.; at the battle of Antietam, Adjutant Nathaniel Wales, 35th Massachusetts Infantry, donned breast armor before heading into the fight near Otto farm; listed as wounded on 17 Sept. 1862; he was later captured near White Sulphur Springs, Va., on 14 Nov. 1862, and paroled and returned to duty in Feb. 1863; promoted to rank of major and then colonel; resigned his commission in 1864)
