Gorokhoff took over; in 1945, Robert S. Brawley became director; the appointment of Iva Dee Hiatt as a Director of Choral Music in 1948 paved the way for the Smith College Glee Club to become a leader in college choral music; she also founded the Smith College Chamber Singers, a select singing group open to Smithies at all grade levels, singing and touring every other year; the Glee Club and Chamber Singers sing a variety of repertoire, ranging in genre from classical to rock 'n roll, as well as folk songs and world music)
