"Busca, Gabrio," in Dizionario biografico degli Italiani , v. 15, 1972, via Treccani.it website, February 8, 2018(Busca, Gabrio, born approximately 1540; in service of house of Savoy in 1570, from 1575 with title "luogotenente del capitano generale di artiglieria di là dai monti," directing works of military engineering in all Savoy; author of several works of military art and science; in 1595, Velasco, the Spanish governor of Milan, sent him to Burgundy as captain general of the artillery, where he participated in the campaign against Henri IV of France, remaining in Burgundy until 1598; in 1599, again in Milan, he was named royal and ducal architect of the state ("architetto regio e ducale dello Stato"), charged with inspecting the artillery of Pavia, Valenza, Novara and Alessandria; in 1602, the new governor Fuentes sent him to Valtellina to construct a fort (Fort Fuentes); he presumably continued working there until his death, on July 27, 1605)
