[al-ʻAbbās ibn Saʻīd al-Jawharī (active 9th century) was an astronomer, mathematician, and translator who lived in Baghdad. He served the ʻAbbāsid Caliph al-Maʼmūn as an astronomer, and was described as an expert in tasyīr, the astrological process of evaluating a person's length of life, and the construction of astronomical instruments.
