found: PPPrHi files(Charleston Union Presbytery; formed by a group that broke away from the Presbytery of Charleston Union and withdrew from the Old School Synod of South Carolina and Georgia in 1839 during the Old School/New School schism over dissatisfaction with the Old School Assembly's high-handed actions in 1837 and 1838; this group retained the name Charleston Union and became an independent body, rather than join with the New School assembly; the Old School branch of the Presbytery of Charleston Union continued in the Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. under the name Charleston; the independent Charleston Union Presbytery reunited with Charleston in 1852 and continued under the name Charleston)
