Asher" in London (1850); served in various positions at the National Baptist Convention; volunteered and was assigned to the Sixth United States Colored Infantry (USCT), one of only fourteen black chaplains to serve in the Union Army; continued his chaplain duties and taught former slaves; died 27 July 1865 in Wilmington, North Carolina, United States)
