Berlinski was born on April 20, 1915 in Oświęcim, Galicia and Lodomeria, Cisleithania, Austria-Hungary (now Oświęcim, Poland) She was born in Auschwitz as Gusta Wolf, the daughter of a Hasidim, owner of a furniture store, Samuel Wolf, and Gizela née Horowitz. She was the eldest of six siblings. She died on January 16, 2022 in Jerusalem at the age of 106)
