He moved from his hometown to different cities across the U.S., including East Aurora, New York and Denver, Colo. It was not until 1896 that he moved to Bloomington in hopes of building a strong labor front in the Midwest. He resided in Bloomington until his death in 1923. He is buried at Park Hill Cemetery.
