Apr. 29, 1876, Sarvar, Hungary; various biographical sources give different years of birth, with most listing his birth year as 1882; according to his passport, found in the Reich papers, his birth order, and his reported age at the time of his death in October of 1943, all of which has been researched by Prof. Robert Kraft, we record here his birth year as 1876, not 1882; first came to the U.S., Jan. 1921; d. Oct. 5, 1943; in 1924, at the urging of Cyrus Adler, the philanthropist Julius Rosenwald provided the funds necessary to create a position in Egyptology specifically for Dr. Reich at the Dropsie College for Hebrew and Cognate Learning in Philadelphia; Dr. Reich held this position (with various alterations in title) from 1925 until his death in 1943, after which the position was never filled again)
