His family moved three years later to Madison County, Ky. Entered the U. S. Army from Ohio in 1813. Moved to Maysville, Ky. where he was editor of the "Eagle" newspaper and read law, which he later practiced in Mason County, Ky. Elected to the Kentucky House where he served one term in 1823, then as secretary of state of Kentucky 1824-1828. Served in various positions in the U.S. government. Died July 10, 1872 in Washington, D.C.)
