found: NUCMC data from Lawrence Public Library for Pacific Mills collection, 1888-1890(Pacific Mills; inc. 1853; textile mills built by the Essex Company, Lawrence, Mass. The Pacific Mills were incorporated in 1853 with a capital of $1,000,000. The Essex Company built the original mills and print works. They were remodeled in 1882 and were enlarged and added to over the many years of its operation. In 1923 the plant in Lawrence was one of the largest mill plants in the U.S. with twenty-seven brick buildings and a floor space of 135 acres. At that time Pacific Mills was the largest manufacturer in the world of percales. Pacific Mills also produced a variety of fabrics that are too numerous to mention; name also found as Pacific Mills and Print Works Lawrence, Mass.)
