found: Wash. place names database, via WWW, Dec. 12, 2002(Cypress Island (Ts.35,36N;R.1E) - An irregular, 8-mile-long island on Rosario Strait is three miles northwest of Anacortes in northwest Skagit County. It was named Isla de San Vincente by Juan Francisco de Eliza in 1790, for one of the many names of the then Viceroy of Mexico. On June 6, 1792, the present name was charted by Capt. George Vancouver, for the many juniper trees on the island which he believed to be cypress. An alternate name is Bald Mountain Lakes.)
