Note
The Center for Traditional Music and Dance (CTMD) was founded by Martin Koenig as the Balkan Arts Center in 1968. Together with Ethel Raim, Koenig guided its transformation into first, the Ethnic Arts Center in 1981 and then, the Center for Traditional Music and Dance in 1997. The Center assists New York City's immigrant communities in preserving the vitality of their distinctive performing arts traditions and promotes cross-cultural understanding by sharing these art forms with audiences across the city.
