Title"Tsarnaev trial" Boston Federal CourtNotePhysical details: color pastel Applies To: Applies To: all Caption label from exhibit Drawing Justice: Boston Marathon Bombing Trial. FBI Special Agent Sarah De Lair holds up the shredded remains of a black backpack, which had contained the pressure cooker bomb detonated by defendant Dzhokhar Tsarnaev during the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013. Inspired by anti-American rhetoric, Dzhokhar and his older brother Tamerlan killed three people and injured 260 more. Tamerlan died during a police shoot-out, leaving Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to face trial alone. Judy Clarke, seated next to her client sought a life sentence, rather than the death penalty that Judge George A. O'Toole handed down on June 24, 2015. Tsarnaev is in the U.S. penitentiary in Florence, Colorado, awaiting appeal: motion for a new trial denied, U.S. v. Tsarnaev, 157 F.Supp. 3d 57 (2016).Title from item.Exhibition: Exhibited: "Drawing Justice" at the Library of Congress Thomas Jefferson Building, Washington, D.C., April - October 2017.Dimensionssheet 50 x 65 cm.Extent1 drawing on ochre Canson paperProvision ActivityPublication: Massachusetts 2015 Publication: Boston, [Massachusetts]: [Publisher not identified]; [2015 March 11] Copyright Date© Jane Rosenberg 3/11/2015Responsibility StatementJane RosenbergUsage And Access PolicyServed by appointment (Unprocessed).
