Title
No, not gas masks. Washington, D.C. October 17--These mechanized looking gentlemen are not demonstrating a new kind of gas mask, but are demonstrating the different kinds of submarine escape apparatii as used by Germany, U.S. and England. From the left--Melvin Cottrell, Do'sun's [Bo'sun's] mate 1st Class demonstrates the German, Luois Zampligione, gunners mate 1st class, the American, and Leslie Jones, besun's [bo'sun's] mate 1st class, the English. Although different designs, these masks are all operated under the same principle--oxygen tanks. They can also be used as gas masks whenever there is danger of chlorine gas inundating a submarine
