This was the site of the 1777-78 winter encampment of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War that led to the defeat of British forces and the formation of the new United States of America. The recreated huts have been built on the site where former minister Peter Muhlenbergand his 8th Virginia Regiment encamped during that bitter winter.
