Summary
Depicts the attempt of a New Mexican mining company to break a bitter union strike against unsafe working conditions. The story also addresses the prejudice against the Mexican-American workers, who strike to attain wage parity with Anglo workers and to be treated with dignity by the bosses. The wives of the miners play a pivotal role in the strike, against their husbands wishes. Based on a true story about a 1950-1952 strike against the Empire Zinc Mine in Silver City, New Mexico.
