Summary
In celebration of Thomas Edison's birthday, several colleagues reflect on his personality. Nobel Peace Prize winner in physics Robert A. Millikan recalls first meeting Edison, how he used to question basic science books, and never let adulation go to his head. Northwestern University President Franklyn Bliss Snyder remembers Edison as hardworking, and working in another time. J.J. Tigert, University of Florida president, recalls how Edison was at home in all the sciences. Harry Woodburn Chase, New York University chancellor, observes that Edison imagined a better way of life and then sought to make it a reality
