Summary
Prof. Krishnanand is strictly against the dowry system at the time of marriage and advocates against it. He is supported by Radha another lecturer in his college. However when Radha's marriage is fixed with the Ranbir Singh who is the son of her father's friend Raghubir Singh, dowry is demanded. When Radha refuses to marry Ranbir Singh because of this demand the bridegroom party leaves without completing the marriage ceremonies on the day of marriage. Umrao Singh, Radha's father is unable to take this blow and shoots himself with a pistol. Radha pledges to fight against the menance of dowry along with Prof. Krishnanad. But can Prof. Krishnanand's daughter, Pooja remain untouched by this issue. Things blow out of control when Pooja too is harrassed by her in-laws for dowry and she is burnt alive by them. Radha and Prof. Krishnanad fight to get justice for Pooja and are helped in this by Ranbir Singh.
