Russian refugees are safe under American protection in the island of Proti, a short distance from Constantinople where the American Red Cross has provided shelter and supplies to care for a thousand of them. They were taken to the island a few hours before the fall of Odessa by the relief ship "Navajo." This picture shows a group of exiles being conducted to the bath house by a Red Cross officer. Later they will be given comforatble beds in clean tents or barrack buildings
