Summary
This exhibition presents a panoramic look at the work of Emilio Rodríguez Larraín, an artist whose career markedly influenced the panorama of the visual arts in Peru in the second half of the twentieth century. Formed in the modern avant-garde tradition, he was able to adapt to the new practices that defined the artistic field from the sixties. The transition from painting to sculpture and to specific site interventions determined the course of a work that has no parallel in the local scene and that influenced the renewal of Peruvian art towards searches related to our contemporaneity. Under the curatorship of Natalia Majluf, director of MALI; And Sharon Lerner, curator of contemporary art at the museum, this exhibition is presented as the largest exhibition that has so far been dedicated to this important Peruvian artist. It emphasizes the work carried out between the 1950s and 2010 in Lima and Europe, and includes a representative selection of around 100 pieces of painting, sculpture and specific site intervention
