You've got mail from Kazakhstan, 2003:CIP galley (The International Executive Service Corps (IESC) was founded by a group of American business men and women in 1964 to assist enterprises in developing countries and the emerging democracies in the world, by providing technical and managerial expertise and experience available in the United States. The formation of IESC was formally announced by President Lyndon B. Johnson at a ceremony at the White House on June 15, 1964. The first three IESC volunteer projects were carried out in Panama in January, 1965. Since then, IESC and its volunteer executives have completed more than 23,000 projects in over 120 countries. IESC has 65 offices in 54 countries. Since 1990, they have opened 34 offices in Central and Eastern Europe, the Baltic States, and the Newly Independent States of the former Soviet Union. IESC's computer Skills Bank contains the names and qualifications of over 15,000 American men and women who have volunteered their talents and experience for overseas assignments. Volunteer and spouse have their expenses paid but receive no salary. The average length of projects is about two months. These projects develop as a result of requests to IESC from foreign companies, organizations, and governments. IESC is funded by grants from the U. S. Agency for International Development (U.S. AID), contributions from U. S. corporations, foundations, and individuals, and by contributions from overseas clients and governments.
