It was reduced in size by the creation of the Alabama counties of Montgomery, Conecuh, and Wilcox; Conecuh County was created by the Alabama Territorial legislature on 1818 Feb. 13, from part of Monroe County; Butler County was created by the first session of the Alabama legislature on 1819 Dec. 13, from parts of Monroe and Conecuh Counties)
