Moved to Lexington, Ky. in 1819 where he became a long-serving trustee at Transylvania University, a hemp manufacturer and one of the founders of the Lexington & Ohio Railway. Died in Lexington, Ky. on March 17, 1884. Lexington's Gratz Park is named for him.)
