In 1893 he finally resigned to accept the position of principal of the preparatory department of the West Virginia University, and he afterward received the appointment of professor of pedagogy in the university. He resigned when elected state superintendent of free schools in 1900 and was re-elected at the end of his term, serving from 1901 to 1909. Thomas Condit Miller died 23-Dec-1928 at 80 years of age.)
