Farmer, who was subsequently also employed by Shawnee Press as its president; the Farmers were instrumental in the development of Shawnee Press into one of America's premier educational music publishing companies; collaborated as an author, composer, and arranger on numerous publications under the pseudonym Joyce Merman; in 1980 the Farmers left Shawnee Press to form their own independent company, Wide World Music, Inc. which they operated successfully until 1994, when they sold the Wide World copyrights to Music Sales Corporation of London and New York, and moved to Tucson)
