Kennedy Boulevard) in Philadelphia; built by Pennsylvania Railroad Company in 1930; official name was originally "Broad Street Suburban Station" to distinguish it from the old Broad Street Station across the street; renamed "Suburban Station" in 1953; the office building above the station was officially named the "Broad Street Station Building" prior to the 1950s; the name "Suburban Station" now refers to the underground railroad facilities operated by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority; since the late 1950s they have been directly connected to a series of underground shopping concourses and office buildings collectively known as "Penn Center")
