  • [Salvatore Rispoli (1736-1812) was an Italian composer and teacher in Naples. He studied at Conservatorio di Sant'Onofrio a Porta Capuana under Carlo Cotumacci (1709?-1785) and Giacomo Insanguine (1728-1795). He worked with Saverio Mattei, composing settings for his psalm translation and music for Mattei's cantata upon the occasion of Empress Maria Theresa's death in 1781. He also composed 5 operas between 1782 and 1787. In 1793, he returned to the Conservatorio di Sant'Onofrio, first serving as second maestro and then one of two joint primi maestri with Giovanni Furno (1748-1837) until he was pensioned in 1797 when Sant'Onofrio merged with the Loreto conservatory.]
