found: Washington place names database, via WWW, Jan. 18, 2004(Bonaparte Creek (T.38N;R.30E) - This creek rises in Bonaparte Lake in northeast Okanogan County and flows to the south and west in a wide curve to the Okanogan River at Tonasket. In 1841, Cmdr. Charles Wilkes mapped it as River Bonaparte, which had been previously used by Hudson's Bay Company officials. There is some evidence that the name was first applied by Peter Skene Ogden, who was once a chief factor for the company. The Indian name for the stream was Hy-as-kwa-ha-loos.)
