found: Internet Surname Database, viewed February 28, 2017(Pember: an English surname of ancient origins; possibly a foreshortened spelling of the Lancashire locational name Pemberton or Pembleton, although it may have derived directly from an Olde English pre 7th century personal name Paegna) comment posted December 12, 2015 by Colin Boylett, author of "The Pember family of Hereforshire" (The name is derived from Penburhoc (1299 ipm) which became Pembers Oak, a place near Kington in Herefordshire. The first known use of the surname in its current form is on a muster list dated 1415 recording John Pember as an archer on Henry V's French expedition that took in the Battle of Agincourt)
